Love Is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield

emotional reflective fast-paced

4.0

I don't usually gravitate towards non-fiction, so I am genuinely surprised that my first read of the year is a memoir. I really enjoyed this book. It's an incredibly touching tale of love and loss; Sheffield's connection music is apparent on every page and I have never read another book that ties in a love of music this deeply into its story.
The book is not without its critiques. The "music is life" metaphors do get a bit heavy-handed at times and it's not "timeless" in the sense that you can also easily tell that this was written in the early 2000s, but it's still a really good read, especially if you're a music-lover.
