Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

4.0

This book took me a bit to get into, because there are so many new characters abruptly introduced, but I ended up loving it. I thought Manon was fascinating, and I’m really excited to see where this goes. It took a while to adjust to the different story lines happening simultaneously- around 19 chapters, but I did end up loving it. I didn’t love Chaol, but that seems to be a pretty common opinion at this point. Aelin isn’t my favorite at this exact moment, either, but really I loved the growth. I loved that she was willing to dive in and deal with some feelings and embrace her Fae heritage.
Dorian is fascinating at this point, too, so I’m eager to get into the next book. I think the ensemble cast of this book kept it more interesting than had it been all Celeana/Aelin at this point.
