The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
3.5

I really liked this book up until the last 1/4. The setting, the bonds between the characters, and the exploration of a boarding school were enjoyable.
I thought Isa cheating on Owen with Luc was poorly done but could’ve been a decent plot point/conflict. Freya felt like an unnecessary plot device throughout the whole book, and shocker, she was. This could’ve been so much better if there was more focus on the girls’ experience at Saltern and with Luc and Ambrose. Luc and Kate killing Ambrose because he wouldn’t let them be together was so dumb! It would’ve made more sense if the town rumors were true and that Ambrose had been SAing Kate (or something similarly dark) so Luc offed him (especially considering his own trauma with SA).
There was so much potential for this story and these characters that felt kind of squandered in the end.
