Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube: Chasing Fear and Finding Home in the Great White North by Blair Braverman

3.0

There were solid chunks of this book that I really loved; Blair’s interactions with the townsfolk she got to know over the course of her stay in Mortenhals, the formal but loving relationship that she had with Arild, the old shopkeeper, her time spent learning to train a small team of sledding dogs and mushing out on remote, desolate fjords. Things like that. On the other hand I found myself losing interest when she would invariably return back to an analysis of past love interests or young flings. I understood why she spent as much time as she did focusing on these aspects of her life, as they were part of her development into adulthood, but I couldn’t help but feel a little less interested in that aspect of her story.
