This delivers on what it promises, it is a dark academia, taboo, smutty romance.
The plot was interesting and I appreciated the twists and high stakes near the end.
The smut is well done with multiple instances.
The romance was good but not great. I found Deveric a little dramatic and Lilia a tad boring. But I did like their chemistry and banter and the taboo nature of their relationship. Although girl really needs to excuse less psycho behavior but that's part of the fun.
I listened to the audio book and typically I don't love when there is more than one narrator but this one worked well and I liked both narrators a lot.
A complete side note - hint of a spoiler - the work Deveric was doing on the worms for medical use...cool. but the toxin had "arousing" side effects. Which great for a smutty plot. But I'm a sex therapist and let me just say THAT alone is a Billion dollar industry - if an aphrodisiac supplement actually worked he'd be one of the richest men if that hit the market. Just had to say that.
