Us Against You
by Fredrik Backman
Who knew that some books about hockey could have me WEEPING! Crying tears of happiness and agony at the same time. Fredrik Backman the WRITER you are! I cannot get over this writing and the way he can make a story unfold. You know what you’re expecting; he tells you right at the beginning, but you never truly know what to expect.
“For the simple reason that many of our worst deeds are the result of our never wanting to admit that we’re wrong.”
“Women are always the problem in the men’s world.”
“The best friends of our childhoods are the loves of our lives, and they break our hearts in worse ways.”
“Grief is a wild animal that drags us so far out into the darkness that we can’t imagine ever getting home again. Ever laughing again. It hurts in such a way that you can never really figure out if it actually passes or if you just get used to it.”
“The sun will make its way up over our town again tomorrow. Incredibly.”
“Us against you.”
