This book, in one word : cute.
Everything here is adorable ! The first meeting ? WIth Kailyn’s really long crush ? Adorable.
Dax and Kailyn being frenemies in law school ? Adorable.
Them meeting again years later and her grudge still going strong ? Adorable.
Emme and her relationship with both her brother and Kailyn ? Please kill me, cuteness overload.
I always loved books with the single parents tropes, or when there’s a kid, because you can always see the innocent and nice relationship getting bigger.
And the part with the custody with the aunt was actually so great to the story. We could see the struggle with loss, the changes Emme had to deal with and everything the brother and sister had to face so soon with losing their parents. Although i have to admit I knew the aunt was sketchy since the beginning (but I’m so used to that sort of trope I guess)
