The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi

Wow, that was beautiful. The writing especially. It started quite strange and intriguing, and continued to be so. I really appreciate the way the author crafted their story.

However, I think by the middle/end part of the novel just dragged out the obvious. I'm sure we all guessed what was actually going on with Vivek by that point, and it felt like a disservice to the reader to assume that they still needed to have their hand held until the very last page.

But don't get me wrong! I did really love this book, and can see myself returning to it in the future.
