Winter by Marissa Meyer
5.0
Huge book. An epic ending for an epic story! I enjoyed every moment!
At the beginning I moved through slowly and I couldn't decide if it was because the really detailed but a little so pace or because I didn't want this series to end! This was the final book so there were 9 characters, ten including the Lunar queen, whose life we followed and because of that I couldn't get bored. There were so many storylinesy so many POVs that you could see into everything!
Every woman brought her special traits.. Brave, unstoppable Cinder, fiery Scarlet with her temper, awkward but genious Cress, and crazy beautiful, charismatic Winter! And Iko was as qurkiy as ever. All of them step through their own obstacles to help their friends, their loved ones.
The men were as handsome and brave and heroic and chivalrious as ever. Kai with his unbelievable diplomatic skills, Wolf with his stong body and soft heart, Thorne with his neverending good spirits and inappropriate retorts and, of course, Jacin. Sour, good-hearted Jacin. I loved him in this book because he couldn't care less about how crazy the princess was, he accpeted it and never turned his back on her!
The queen was spectecular again! I can't wait to read Fairest to get to know her better! She was evil and a bit more evil!
All the supporting characters were amazing also! They added the details perfectly!
The story? I loved it, never boring, you always bite your nails 'cause someone's in danger! It was kept real by the sacrifices and the crossroads. The first 500 pages was a little more about the preparations, the countless problems they had to face but it was needed! But the last 300 pages when the action and breath-catching and nail biting happened was swift and exciting! I never really knew what was going to happen, there were little twists and surprise throughout. Unexpected ways to solve a problem!
My favourite part of this series? All the love stories in it! It's based upon fairytales, princess stories so the prince on a white horse is a must. However, our princesses and princes are unique and loveable and perfectly imperfect! All their separate stories are special and they describe character flaws and the hardships of a relationship.
I also loved that in the end everything was resolved but nothing was too perfect!
This book, this series brought me close to sci-fi, and introduced me the amazing world of retellings! I started to fall in love with science-fiction despite my love of fantasy and I don't mind a bit!
