abuelaev_2017 's review for:
A Rogue of One's Own
by Evie Dunmore
One of my favorite romance book sites gave this book an unworthy scathing review. As a woman of color, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am well aligned with progressive issues, but the review went overboard. I did not find the issues related to class, culture, and sexual preference so insulting as to merit an F rating.
Here's my take on this title: the female lead is prickly and not always easy to read, but she is an interesting character, and I loved her development. The male lead is complex, and their romance unfolds to great satisfaction. The ending is unconventional but works for this couple.
I enjoyed learning more about the suffragette movement and the many people who sacrificed to lead the cause. As a 21st-century voting citizen, I appreciate and admire their many efforts.
I enjoyed Book One and look forward to reading the next two books in this series.
