I can't stop crying. After reading Shuggie Bain I knew this would be another heartbreaking book. Every single character is fleshed out and complicated that you can't help but sympathise with them, even the ones that do the most dreadful things.
Douglas Stuart's beautiful, poetic and vivid writing is such a contrast to the violence and tragedy that surrounds the Hamilton family. You so desperately want them to catch a break, especially poor Mungo.
Major trigger warnings throughout.
