The Gospel of Mary Magdalene by Jean-Yves LeLoup
4.0
I liked this book a lot because I was able to read the translated gospel alongside its original text. Leloup does a great job of explaining the meaning of the text and situating it within the context of early Jerusalem. My one critique is that sometimes I felt the text dragged a little or spent too much time on certain concepts. It was a little over-academic at times. However, that was somewhat refreshing after reading Watterson’s account of the gospel (which i absolutely loved! Watterson’s is just more of a personal account and Leloups is historical).
