Assassin Society by Jules Hunter, J.A. Cummings, Alexis Taylor, Bee Murray, Arden M. Ward, Darcy Ray, Raven Amor, Jewels Arthur, Joely Sue Burkhart

3.0

I've never been a huge fan of anthologies. But then I started reading what BBB put together, and I'm slowly changing my mind. Especially because we get a preview of the stories that we have come to love.

Infernally Marked by [a:Jewels Arthur|19339151|Jewels Arthur|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1564275616p2/19339151.jpg] - 3 STARS

We find out how Mara became who she is. From a 16-year-old human she finds out that she might not be human after all, and her new careers involves killing people for the Elders. I liked the story, but I thought it ended quite abruptly.

Sable by [a:J.A. Cummings|1481291|J.A. Cummings|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1220713148p2/1481291.jpg] - 3 STARS
Sable is a raven shifter whose job is to kill people. However, in one of her most important mission someone else takes her kill, and of course being the bada** she is, she couldn't let it go. She meets Rankle, a fox shifter, but he is more than he meets the eye. They both get involved in a conspiracy, and if they don't won't to end up dead, they need to shoot first.

Huntress by [a:Arden M. Ward|18578273|Arden M. Ward|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1547722776p2/18578273.jpg] - 3 STARS
Moxie is both an assassin and a hunter. We get the three chapters of the full novel in the anthology, but even though the start is interesting, I can't figure out where the story is going. The best part was her relationship with Crowley, a sassy hellhound.

Calypso Springs by [a:Bee Murray|19226717|Bee Murray|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1578258027p2/19226717.jpg] - 5 STARS
This is by far the best story. It's a retelling of Persephone and Hades Greek myth that takes place in modern time. If you also add a wedding counseling retreat, you get a really good mayhem. I loved Perri and Des relationship, and I wished it were a novel and not just a short story.

For the Love of Blue by [a:Darcy Ray|19097842|Darcy Ray|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1556475102p2/19097842.jpg] - 3 STARS
This story covers self-harm and stalking, so if you have triggers, don't read it. It's a really dark story, that left me a little bit confused. I believe to clear my confusion I have to read Darcy's other books. But yeah, the story is about one of Blue's (not sure who she is) guy hunting the guy who hurt her. It was well-written, but as I already said confusing for who doesn't know the whole story.

Lord Have Mercy by [a:Jules Hunter|19479218|Jules Hunter|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1566125643p2/19479218.jpg] - 3 STARS
I don't even know where to start. Mercy is a kind of nun who works for the Vatican and takes out its enemies. However, things get quite messed up when someone tried to frame her. When also another assassin enter the scene, things become even more complicated. Did I mention that the new assassin is a hot guy?

Assassin of the Night by [a:Alexis Taylor|4984044|Alexis Taylor|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] and [a:Beth Hendrix|18057594|Beth Hendrix|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1528262143p2/18057594.jpg] - 3 STARS
This story talks about rape, so if it is a trigger for you, please skip over. It's the story of a woman assassin who after getting raped she decided to not feel vulnerable anymore and paid back with death rapists and people who hurt women and children. Everything is working out until the Bratva proposes her a deal. Will she accepts it? The second part of the story will come out in a second anthology.

Queen Takes a Life by [a:Joely Sue Burkhart|2446369|Joely Sue Burkhart|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1466650871p2/2446369.jpg] - 3 STARS
So in the prologue of this story, it clearly states that you should read the series before this story, otherwise, like I did, you won't understand what is going on. And I'm still not sure what is going on. Shara's in a dream with one of her Blood, and witness someone trying to harm her sister. She has to take a decision — will she take a life to stop something from happening in the future?
