In general, I love Meghan Quinn's books, but this one just didn't do it for me. The setup is great, it's a brother's best friend romance set in a hockey theme and it's all very light-hearted. The setup works incredibly well and then it just lingers. The two get together and they're in purgatory and then they take a step and then they're in purgatory and then they take a step and they're in purgatory and the plot just keeps repeating itself. The book should have been 20% shorter and it would have been significantly more effective. In the end, I got frustrated with the characters because they did the same thing so many times that it didn't feel realistic or enjoyable to read anymore. The quirky character traits of the female mean character go from being charming to being completely unbearable. If I had been able to cut out from 65% to 85%. I would have been a much happier reader.
