marshep1 's review for:
The Count of Monte Cristo
by Alexandre Dumas
This book was action packed and plot driven, but there were a lot of parts to the story where I just wanted to say "that was too easy". The characters were interesting and distinct, although there were a lot of characters, so it took some extra concentration to keep them all straight. I read the abridged version, so I could tell there were clearly some elements left out that would have added to the story and made certain events have more meaning than appear to be lucky coincidences. All in all, the book was interesting and a page turner, but I didn't feel it was as clever and surprising as it had the potential to be.
