Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
5.0
Recently I finished this book and as much as I love the Harry Potter films, I was left feeling that the films especially 'The Goblet of Fire' should have stuck to the book. The book is just as gripping as the film and more intense with all the tasks and tribulations that Harry Potter and his friends have to go through in their 4th year at Hogwarts. I fell in love with this book as soon as I started to read this book, and continually wondered why I never managed to read the Harry Potter series before now. You feel for Harry as the one year he thought that he would have a normal year at Hogwarts was changed, when the Triwizard Tournament is hosted at Hogwarts, but sadly for Harry Potter and his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, that is never the case.
SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ:
I found it really interesting from watching the film and then reading the book, seeing what was missed out in the films. There were important parts that I never knew about until I read the book, such as Barty Crouch JR killing his father, swapping his place in the Prison of Azkaban with his mother and also having to stay hidden for years under an Invisibility cloak. Also I really enjoyed reading about when Fred and George Weasley were trying to blackmail Ludo Bagman over their bet with him at the Quidditch World Cup and when Harry gave Fred and George his 1,000 Galleons to start their own joke ship, as 'everyone needs a laugh.' Plus, I laughed and cheered when Hermione worked out that Rita Skeeter was 'bugging' her conversations as a bug and in the end, kept her trapped in a concealed jar!
I highly recommend this book and the rest of the Harry Potter series to anyone! I really regret not starting this series before now, but I am glad that I have started it and have fallen in love with this series!
