About 5 minutes before making this review, I just finished American Rapture by CJ Leede. I'm trying to decompress my feelings because it's left me feeling a lot of ways. After DNFing Maeve Fly by the same author I was hesitant to go into American Rapture, but I'm glad I did.
A little slow at the beginning, it turns into a tense, scary survival horror novel that is more terrifying to me than zombies. As a lover of the zombie horror genre, I think the book really strikes gold with its character development and reflections on the plague. It is a hauntingly beautiful but at times hard to get through story.
5/5 for me.
