A good book by the glorious Sanderson. I really like ‘origin’ stories, so reading about Joel and his quest to become a Rithmatist was enjoyable. This is a Young Adult novel, so don’t expect any in depth, epic fantasy world building here. It’s nonetheless a good world to visit, and an easy read at that which is a plus. Sanderson reveals a VERY unique magic system in this book...I’ve never really read anything like it, and it was the highlight for me in this book.
If you’re looking for an easy read, something not too heavy in terms of storytelling/world building, but is still engrossing, you may consider picking this one up.
