The first book in this wonderful retelling of the classic Greek myth introduces readers to Auren, who has great spunk and relatability. It's painful to read at points, especially when it's so clear to an outsider-looking-in that Midas is a greedy abuser and master manipulator. And Sail - I have no words. Even after reading all 3 books, he is a person that sticks with you to the end.

Readers should heed content warnings for this book and its sequels for sure, I don't know if I've ever read a more graphic description of the abuse undergone in this series.
