Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
4.0
Octavia Butler warns of socio, economic, and environmental collapse in this dystopian novel set in 2024-2027. A Butlerian Odyssey that follows a young black girl with the hereditary condition of “hyperempathy”. Observing the world and the direction it’s taking she begins to write Earthseed, a religion and way of living she sees as a way forward.
I loved being in Lauren’s mind, Butler’s writing is vivid and amazing, but it should be noted that I am a huge baby. This was so scary and at times triggering (death, grief, rape, child loss, abuse, cannibalism).
Embrace diversity

or be divided,
robbed,
ruled,
killed
By those who see you as prey.
Embrace diversity
Or be destroyed.
