The Snowman by Jo Nesbø
5.0

I started this series solely because I wanted to read this book. It’s been fun so far. Definitely worth the year and a half journey, some high highs and low lows. Nesbo is a writer who, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse, likes to have an almost unmanageable amount of threads in these books. Often I am charmed by how many plates he manages to spin with very few crashing down but there are definitely times where he sneezes and most of them free fall and shatter (books 4 and most of 5, I’m also easier on the first two books because they’re not set in Oslo and he’s working out the character still). The Redbreast, The Redeemer, and finally The Snowman are his best because although there are many threads to follow and keep track of and remember, you are generously rewarded for your effort! Harry is not supposed to be on the level of intellect as Poirot or Holmes, I appreciate that he often makes mistakes and jumps to conclusions like a hypocrite. He does that a lot in this book! And yet, Nesbo kept me engaged and constantly wanting to continue reading.

I had a lot of fun reading this one. I suppose you COULD start the series here, but it’s mostly written with the idea that you’ve read at least the first, third, and sixth books. So read em all!
