The Sign in the Smoke by Carolyn Keene
4.0
The Sign in the Smoke was a fun read for me. I really enjoyed it, probably because the setting was a girls' summer camp. I never had that experience as a child, but I have always thought it would be fantastic to go. Anyway, Nancy decides she wants to take a summer off from sleuthing. So, when Bess suggests that she, Nancy, and George apply for jobs as counselors at the summer camp she attended as a child, Nancy agrees.
Of course, while there, a mystery finds Nancy. As I said, I enjoyed this story, and the mystery was quite intriguing. However, Nancy's sleuthing was sub-par in this one. She never actually solves the mystery, which was rather disappointing. The story is supposed to be about a teenage detective who solves mysteries. That aside, I loved this book. It's one of my favorites int his series so far. I'd rate it 4 1/2 stars if they allowed 1/2 star ratings. Enjoy!
