In the future America falls apart through a revolution. In its place The Capitol is built with 13 districts, but only 12 will exist ongoing. To make up for the district rebellions, The Hunger Games begins. It’s now the 74th Hunger Games. 12 boys and 12 girls - one from each district will be selected to kill each other, till only one victor remains the winner.

Wow! I forgot how good this series is and how dark it is!!! I first read the series around 12 or so years ago and possibly a re-read or two over that time as well. But I really forgot just how dark it is and how little the romance features (which is a nice thing for me these days). I remember a friend trying to get me into it the first time and what hooked me to start was knowing there was romance and a love triangle but these days it’s the commentary on society. There’s a clear reason this series remains a classic even to this day!
