The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

5.0

Bleak yet beautiful, The Curious Incident is difficult to put down after you start. The prose moves swiftly as our protagonist's mind does. Christopher is well realised and we empathise with him despite his inability to return the favour to the other characters in his life.

The enthralling murder mystery premise smoothly morphs into a tale about family and its dysfunctions, while also being ceaselessly loving. Haddon creates a deeply satisfying and complex masterpiece that is for both children and adults.
