An Academy for Liars was good, not great. I was really excited going into it because a mysterious school setting in Savannah, GA? Yes please. And while the premise totally had me hooked, I wish the story had leaned more into the Southern gothic vibe. The Savannah setting had so much potential but ended up feeling a little underused.
The mystery kept me curious, and I liked the darker, twisty tone, but it didn’t fully deliver the atmospheric punch I was hoping for. Still, Alexis Henderson knows how to craft an eerie, moody tale, so I’ll definitely keep an eye out for whatever she writes next.
