I listen to a lot of science-based podcasts so I found some of this book to be a rehash of things I already knew about or was familiar with, but the balance of the book I found very interesting. Kaku presents a "Star Trek" position on the future - one that is shiny and optimistic, rather than one of gloom and doom that you hear about from some pundits. In each section he goes right to leading experts to get their take on what the future holds. One of my favorite parts of the book was actually about the past - the history of science. Kaku explains how the Middle East and China were once leaders in scientific discoveries while Europe languished, but religious and social fundamentalism moved in to stifle scientific thinking while religion eased it's grip on the West and the tables turned. Today some of these same fundamentalist groups would rather see civilization return to the middle ages rather than increase their knowledge of the world and universe. Sad. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in science, it is certainly full of big ideas and a neat vision of the future.
