It was interesting going from reading about Will's father in the previous story to reading about Will's son in this story. They were quite different. I didn't like James, which doesn't bode well for the Last Hours trilogy. Magnus was so wholesome though, and it was lovely seeing the Infernal Devices trio again. I felt bad for Tatiana. She didn't seem to fare well after the events of the Infernal Devices.
