To Bleed a Crystal Bloom
by Sarah A. Parker
This is a Rapunzel retelling, and it’s awesome!
I loved everything about this: the forbidden romance, the mystery, the morally-grey characters. It was awesome!
There’s one incredibly random part where the main character suddenly goes into heat for the first time, which is made to be a ‘big deal,’ but then it’s literally never mentioned again. The whole ‘relieving the sexual tension’ was kind of an odd choice. I think it was meant to be ‘sexy,’ but it just cringed me out?
I still love this book as a whole, though. I just wish a few ideas (such as the above) were explained a little more, or not forgotten about!
