Despite anything I say, this is actually an enjoyable read.
Of course, it is a classic and has its flaws. There are a lot of spoilers and foreshadowing, especially in Martin Hammond's translation. Nevertheless, this was probably appreciated in the 8th century BCE - it had an interesting plot and a diverse cast of characters. I'd love to be sitting beside a campfire, listening to the Iliad being narrated.
I can't add much, knowing Homer's dead. I don't have feedback. He'd probably write a banger in 2024 anyway.
