A story about the narrator, a teenage boy in the coming of age phase. About first crushes, first love, first heartbreak, first sorrow, and first warm friendship.
He admires a woman who sells sandwiches at a supermarket. Every day he comes to see the woman. Her eyes are ice-blue eyelids so he named her Ms. Ice Sandwich. He also drew the woman, only observing from afar, then bought her sandwich. There was no further conversation.
His grandmother was sick. He often accompanied his grandmother and told her about Ms. Ice Sandwich to his grandmother who could only lie down. His mother worked in a women's salon. Listening to the stories, tears, and laughter of women in her salon. And there was a female friend, she called Tutti Frutti. Tutti liked to invite her to watch movies—especially action and thriller movies. This was the first time for him to visit a female friend's house.
A "warm" novella about the perspective of admiring someone. The diction is beautiful. But, sometimes I feel like the narrator is like a stalker in describing Ms. Ice Sandwich. The only thing of lack is one thing, the story is not long enough :D
