For me, this book was middle-of-the-road, as far as the Oz books that I've read. While there was an overall purpose to the storyline, many of the events were completely independent from one another and almost random, at times. Entertaining, but the plotting is lazy, and I would much prefer a plot where the complications arise from the characters' attempts to solve their problems. Just ok.
