Okay tbh this might not be that bad of a book, but I feel like I've already read this story a dozen times now. It's basically a combination of every ya fantasy trope out there maybe. This book made me roll my eyes so many times..
The book started of with an action scene and gave me high expectations..but it got very disappointing very quick
Eelyn is obviously badass since that's like a requirement for ya fantasy..but she didn't even feel badass to me.. Even besides her I found the characters to be one dimensional. Way too tired of this sort of repetitive character.. The romance just felt forced..
The plot was predictable..
Also who exactly were the Herja? We know they are a different clan but we never learn the reasons for their actions..
New things in this book were probably the axe, I've never seen that used in books before and that it was inspired by Vikings mythology.
But the cover is gorgeous!
