A Sleeping Beauty retelling with a touch of Greek mythology and a second chance romance, sign me up!
Princess Sarai was cursed at birth. If she lives, she will later die on her 25th birthday, and her land will be cursed. Fast forward to nearing her 25th birthday and time is running out, while the god she once loved, the South Wind is back in her life after leaving her suddenly several years ago.
The South Wind had it all, love, loss, heartbreak, world building, and action. The last 30% was exhilarating with heart pounding moments.
I appreciated Notus’s calm, patient demeanor with Sarai, while I liked Sarai and sometimes felt sympathy for her, I did find her to be a bit juvenile at times on some of her actions. Not one of those about to be twenty-five but someone of a teenager.
Overall, this Sleeping Beauty retelling artfully merges myth and romance, delivering a story that is both imaginative and emotionally resonant. Sarai and Notus bring depth and tenderness, while the book’s final trials makes sure readers are left breathless. If you are looking for a tale of fate, forgiveness, and rekindled love, this novel offers a memorable journey.
