This was an enjoyable, funny, light read. I honestly thought it was completely satirical for most of the book. But then the ending was all like happy endings for everyone type vibes and i felt like the author was trying to say these rich folks ACTUALLY changed? that wasn’t as welcome lol.
the book tells the story of a family in the top 0.5%, the Stocktons of New York from 3 POVs - the 2 stockton daughters (darley the eldest and georgiana the youngest) and their sister in law, sasha (who is married to cord, the middle child). georgiana is literally the caricature of a snobby, oblivious rich bitch and it made me laugh out loud multiple times. like she’s an awful person. and i don’t mind reading about awful people. i was a little turned off by how i felt like the author was trying to say she had changed by the end. like no she hasn’t, babe. she’s just not a very nice human being. rich or not.
sasha and cord’s relationship was frustrating but fairly real i felt. i couldn’t imagine being in sasha’s shoes. living in your husbands childhood home and NO ONE will move out their shit??? oh i wanted to tear my hair out for her.
darley was fine. she was also an idiot but her kids were funny and i liked her husband.
the cover is amazing. the audiobook narrator did a great job. the book entertained me and made me laugh so overall a good experience. just nothing spectacular.
