Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
4.0
As this was my first Dickens book, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the dripping sarcasm (usually pretty funny, sometimes ridiculously over-the-top) and the fact that the language wasn't hard to follow... For some reason, I had Dickens on my head as something I'd never be able to read without having an annotated edition.
Anyway, this was definitely a good one to start out with, since it wasn't devastatingly depressing like it seems many of his other books are. Now that I've survived my Dickens orientation, though, I'm feeling like I may be capable of tackling some of those as well.
