Between Frames by W.R. Gingell

3.0

Trying to decide if this book truly wasn't as good as the previous one, or if I just need to space out my reading of them. When I read 2 back to back, I don't enjoy the second one as much.

That said, there were genuine plot elements I didn't care for as much in this book. Several elements don't make a lot of sense to me - perhaps will be explained later in the series?
Spoiler How does Daniel know more about Behindkind monsters than the Fae? How does he hear news of the Troika (including their name) so quickly? Why is Pet so insistent on visiting Daniel and Morgana even when she knows Zero disapproves? (This one I know the answer- because the plot demands it. But no plausible reason is given in the book).

We learn several important details about the backstory to the overarching plotline - not quite what I was expecting, not my favorite kind of plot.

The tension between Pet and her owners ramps up quite a bit in this book - the way the author is handling this is.... well I suppose its a very YA approach to the situation but again, not one I particularly enjoy reading (angst! Emotional drama!).

The library doesn't have any more of these books. I likely will continue with the series, later, when I have finished sulking that its turning into something very different than I expected.
