What I enjoyed about this book:
- Found family trope
- Gender role reversal
- Deeper themes of working through CPTSD, attachment trauma, self esteem issues
- Pacing and short chapters
- Dialogue between the characters and the scenes with the family
- Slow burn romance
- Ways I could relate to the character that hurt but because they caused me to look at myself deeper
What I didn’t enjoy:
- Side characters were underdeveloped and annoying
- Dead mom trope-while I understand the point later on
- Some misogynistic themes
- Some aspects of the plot felt random, out of place, the pace began to drag toward the end and picked up again in the last 40 pages.
Graphic: Domestic abuse and Death
Moderate: Alcoholism
