Donna Tartt’s books always evoke the feeling of old stuffy oaken paneled rooms. Quiet conversations with people desperate to not be overheard. This novel asks us to examine how chance, fate, death and the unending procession of time molds our lives, and how we go about living. Where as The Secret History centered around the theme of Aesthetics and The Little Friend centered around the theme of Truth, The Goldfinch centers around Beauty and the odd situations we end up in our attempt to peruse it.
