I don't give many books five stars but I decided to for this one. Co-authored by husband and wife, they did a masterful job of presenting an exalted view of marriage minus the idealism. They describe both how hard and how glorious marriage is. Both in their discussion of first century perspectives on marriage and those of contemporary society, them demonstrate how the biblical view of marriage charts and independent course that is profoundly attractive in comparison.

The chapter on singleness was particularly well done with statements like these: "We should be neither overly elated by getting married nor overly disappointed by not being so - because Christ is the only spouse that can truly fulfill us and god's family the only family that will truly embrace and satisfy us".
