Salt Kiss
by Sierra Simone
HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THINGS SPICY! This book is sending me straight to hell. Just FYI, don't be like me and read the prequel novella [b:Salt in the Wound|156387571|Salt in the Wound (Lyonesse, #0.5)|Sierra Simone|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1684181044l/156387571._SY75_.jpg|169600523] before Salt Kiss. It's okay if you don't, but I think it will add more context to Mark and Isolde if you do.
That being said, I loved the ride this book was! I did need some time to fully settle into this world of kinks and secrets and messy feelings, and I do wish some things had been fleshed out a bit more, but by the halfway mark I was obsessed! Tristan is an absolute cinnamon roll despite the fact that he's an ex army soldier, and sometimes a little naive. To see the world through his eyes could get a little daunting, but maybe it was also the best way to approach Mark's character. Mark who is evasive, secretive, morally gray in so many delicious ways. I would have LOVED to be in his head, but perhaps that is exactly why we don't get to have his POV yet. The agony of having to anticipate how much of what he says and does is true is half of the fun!
The chemistry between Mark and Tristan had me gasping for air. The submissive/dom dynamic isn't always my favorite, but maybe it's because I hadn't read Sierra Simone yet. The spicy scenes were HOT and dirty and absolutely delightful. I could not get enough of them! And the tangled mess of messy feelings and the age gap made everything even more delicious.
And then comes Isolde. Isolde, who I wanted to resent so badly because of the heartbreak she brings into Tristan's world, and whom instead I fell for as hard as Tristan does! And after reading the novella... let's just say I can't wait to read the next book. I have so many theories and cannot wait to see the MMF in full swing!
