Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell was one of my favourite books as a teenager and I've been waiting years for Susanna Clarke to write another novel. Piranesi was worth the wait. It is very different, both from JS&MN and from anything else I've read, but holds real magic for me. Meticulous, strange and captivating, Piranesi is a book that will stay in my imagination for a long time. Can't recommend it enough.
