One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

4.0

Dark, delicious, and unpredictable. Rachel has a way of weaving words that I have never seen before. She ensnares you with her skillfully woven words and pulls you into a world of dark magic, love, betrayal, sacrifice, revelations, haunting poems, and lovable characters. I have never read a book quite like this so I was unsure of whether I would like it but I am so delighted to say that this book has pleasantly surprised me. I loved the metaphors, the mystery, the ominous tellings, the Nightmare, and the way magic was and worked in this world, it was new and exciting and kept me at the edge of my seat, anticipation gnawing on my bones. Nightmare was such an unpredictable and enigmatic character and there are times where you are impressed with him and other times when you fear him. Elspeth and Ravyn are THE cutest and their love story better continue somehow in the sequel idccc I need a happy ending for them. Gonna go run to read the next book now and hope my dreams aren't crushed.
