I loved the first two books. They not only made more sense with how the relationship came to be but I felt like this was more authentic. I did not like the “baseball daddy” nickname and I love a straight forward woman in theory, but this didn’t cut it. She flirted with him in the elevator and it only took her less than a week to damn near fall in love with him. Also, maybe Tomforde just left it out of the story, but I don’t even think enough happened to where either one of them could be in love for real.

Then marriage?? I know at that point it had been almost a year,

I just wasn’t convinced in this pairing as I was with the first two stories. Then the way the father acted. We love a parent who lets their child be who they are but the meddling was getting old. However, I did love how he went to LA literally for a few hours because he felt his daughter needed it. I still love love and that may be why I didn’t score it lower but I just wasn’t convinced of their love or anything. Also, maybe I don’t like kids as much as I think I do or the way she wrote Max was lackluster, but I found myself annoyed.

Like the “mama” thing. Kids don’t just say words you haven’t prompted them to. I don’t think she did that, but that’s why I felt it was out of place. Him saying Miller would make a lot more sense, since they never said mama

. I got the sentiment, but it didn’t fit. Lastly, there was no yearning.

She was gone for a week, then everything was resolved. That is not heartbreak that pulls the audience in. Last thing, as I said there were just odd bits. For example, Isaiah eloping with Kennedy when it seemed as though she would be the love interest for the next book.

What was that about? Either way, it was just an average book to me.
