Speak, Okinawa: A Memoir

A really interesting and sad read but also very sweet and touching. Brian’s journey of accepting her heritage and her mother, while still accepting her other side was so interesting and touching to read, especially as someone who is in a similar, yet different, situation. The interweaving of the history of Okinawa, something that is so heartbreaking and ugly, was so sad yet fascinating to learn. Overall a beautifully flawed book about such a deeply personal journey of acceptance, in a community that really needs to bring more awareness to this issue.
