The Forbidden Man
by Karina Halle
First book of the year and off to a good start.
I'm glad Karina did not shy away from Thalia's inability to conceive because of her age and potential fertility issues. And while only briefly discussed in the epilogue, I appreciated that they chose to adopt rather than the novel ending with her conceiving naturally.
I love sports romances and loved the forbidden dynamic of a player falling for the team's physical therapist. I also loved how the romance developed.
Karina Halle is a newer author for me and I'm looking forward to delving into her backlist.
Spoiler
While not normally a fan of age-gap romances, I really liked the dynamic between Thalia and Alejo, and that topics relevant to a large age difference (specifically between an older woman and younger man -- i.e. stereotypes, fertility, beauty standards for women as we age, career vs love, getting over a divorce, etc...) were addressed.I'm glad Karina did not shy away from Thalia's inability to conceive because of her age and potential fertility issues.
