I cannot believe I decided to listen to the audiobook of this ... How perfect.

The Handmaid's Tale is bleak yet hopeful. Hopeful of what, I'm not so sure.  But it sure is bleak.  I was most surprised by when the narrator,
when Ofglen dies, spirals and starts to talk about giving her flesh away and giving everything up and realizing that the Gileadan values had gotten to her after all.
