Her Soul to Take by Harley Laroux

3.25

3.25-3.5 but rounded down

So like, this was not really my vibe but I still read it. Was it good? Not really. Was it fun? Absolutely.

The beginning was just so weird for me. I don’t know if it was the writing or the setting that was jarring, but I was genuinely confused.

Basically, Leon is a demon and Rae is an annoying college student/paranormal investigator who a local cult is trying to sacrifice in order to raise an ancient God. Wild, right?

For some unknown reason Leon becomes obsessed with Rae and decides to protect her…blah blah blah.

I didn’t particularly like Rae, but I guess she grew on me. I don’t know how to explain it, but her whole character was giving “manic pixie dream girl” vibes which is something I don’t enjoy.

And I also felt that this whole book was giving a mid-2010s CW TV show (looking at you Vampire Diaries).

Obviously, it was super dark and very smut filled. Hot for sure, but a little much for me at times.

Will I read the rest of the books in this series? Honestly, I have nothing better to do so I guess.
