I enjoyed this book! I really enjoyed the writing and I quickly grew to love all the characters. They felt like real people and I was sad to let them go by the end. It felt a bit like a slow burn at times but I was never bored and enjoyed those small moments.

For a book with magical realism, the magical part is very light. It focused more on the two main characters than magic. If you want something that really leans into magic, this might not be for you. But if you enjoy small Southern town stories filled with coziness, family, loss, healing, with a sprinkling of magic and romance, this is a winner. My heart swelled by the end.

One big highlight is the narrators, Stephanie Willis, Bethany Lind, and Nicholas Techosky. I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed the ebook as much as I did the audiobook. NGL I don't think I would have. But the three different narrators were wonderful to listen to, especially Stephanie Willis and Bethany Lind, who narrated the two main characters. They end up taking turns narrating the same characters and their ability to match voices to make it a seamless experience was impressive as all heck.
