Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
5.0
Favorite side characters: Stef/Lucian
A favorite scene: The confrontation at Waylay’s school
A favorite quote: “I’m going to touch you now because I need to. And I’m warning you in advance, because if I touch you and you flinch, I’m gonna go out into the parking lot and start kicking ass until he’s too broken to ever touch another woman again.”
A character I relate to: Naomi. She is a people-pleaser who always puts everyone else’s needs before her own. Throughout the story, she had people who truly love her trying to help her learn to prioritize herself.
Overall, I loved the progression of the story. It was a little slow at the beginning, but it probably felt that way to me because of how many breaks I had to take in between (thanks, life).
Knox is pretty much a teddy bear who does a really bad job at keeping up his grumpy cover when it comes to Naomi, Waylay, or pretty much anyone he truly cares about. Naomi is sunshine, but in an anxiety-ridden, people pleasing, wants to see the bright side of everything even if she’s feeling the complete opposite type of way.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the supporting characters, and can’t wait to read the next two books!
