The Elite by Kiera Cass

I enjoyed this book at the end, not so much the beginning

The beginning had the same complaints as the previous book. Not enough complexity however the ending took a few twists. I liked the more in depth discussion of the rebels and caste systems.

I don’t like Aspen. He is always manipulating America and putting her in danger. I feel like if he really cared about her he would want what is best and constantly putting her at risk is not doing that. When she asked him if he thought he was good enough to be queen he said no. I was NOT happy with that. Why on Earth would he have said that, isn't he the one who was pushing her to sign up for this. Didn't he want her to have a shot at the crown? Why is he blocking it???

Maxon has more depth to his character. With the scandal of Celeste and his abusive father. I feel like his actions are more justified. He still has the character depth of a puddle. All of his actions seem to be in attempt to please America. I still don't get why he cares so much about her!!! She has no personality other than cheating on him and wearing pants!

America, I liked how bold she is and how she fights for what is right. I wish that when she had her presentation it was a little less predictable than eliminating cast systems. I would have liked for her to have gone more in depth about the execution.

The King. I am looking forward to his character development and why he is the way he is. However, knowing the author I have a feeling that he isn't going to have any more complexity outside being another tyrannical, unjustified dictator.
